Hebrews 3:7-12
7. “That is why the Holy Spirit says, today when you hear his voice, 8. don’t harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled, when they tested me in the wilderness. 9. There your ancestors tested and tried my patience, even though they saw my miracles for forty years. 10. So I was angry with them, and I said, ‘Their hearts always turn away from me. They refuse to do what I tell them.’ 11. So in my anger I took an oath: ‘They will never enter my place of rest.'” 12. Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God.”
Good morning and welcome back WBFWE Family… Happy blessed Thursday! Picking up where we left off yesterday. Not hardening our hearts and listening was discussed yesterday with Verses 7 and 8. Today verses 9 and 10 will be discussed. Enjoy and have an awesome Thursday!
Hebrews 3:9-10
9. There your ancestors tested and tried my patience, even though they saw my miracles for forty years. 10. So I was angry with them, and I said, ‘Their hearts always turn away from me. They refuse to do what I tell them.’
We have no reason to have a harden heart and not listen to The Father. He blesses us daily and brings us through the day, regardless if WE categorize the day as blessed, good, bad, trying, terrible, hate it, sucked etc. We label our days all kinds of ways when all we have to do is be grateful and thankful from the time we awake to the time we go back to bed. What happens during our waking hours is meant for growth, testimony, to be a blessing, to strengthen our relationship with Yahweh through Christ Jesus, to see if we are going to praise, fuss, cuss, or be un-appreciative for what He allows.
Our Heavenly Father doesn’t want us to be like our ancestors the Israelites, who tested and tried His patience, even though they saw His miracles for forty years. Even before the 40 years in the wilderness, The Lord Their God showed His miracles in freeing them from Pharaoh. The Israelites witness the 10 plagues with each plague getting worse and more painful than the other. That in itself should’ve been enough for the Israelites to say… ok look at our God… He showed up and showed out… not 1… 2… 3 but 8… 9… 10 times… let us hush up… trust… and get to stepping… we got a fresh start in the promise land that is flowing with milk honey waiting for us… 11 days before we get to the good stuff… and The Lord Our God is leading the way… BETTT… LET’S GOOOO! But nope… nawwww… nada! That’s not how the story goes. To make matters worse The Israelites witnessed Their God open up/part the Red Sea. They safely walked through the Red Sea on dry ground. They witnessed Their God close-up the Red Sea on Pharaoh and his army… drowning everyone and everything. And though they saw all God’s miracles they still tested and tried His patience.
It’s amazing how The Israelites saw all these mind blowing and jaw dropping phenomena’s happening and still had harden hearts and closed ears. They went from being blessed to witnessing and being part of miracles. Now those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones right??? We… us… did/do the same as the Israelites did. Almighty God blesses us… we witness Him perform miracles in our life and in the lives of others… time after time He shows Himself strong to us through amazing signs, wonders, and blessings… He rescues us and saves us and brings us through too many times to count. But it seems our attitude toward Him is WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY. We seemingly get amnesia from blessing to blessing, needing Him to prove Himself again and again in order for us to know that He CAN… WILL… and DO. When trouble arises we try to do things ourselves. When trouble last longer than we expect it to we doubt Him and our faith gets shaky or weak. We break off our relationship with Him because we get so self consumed and fearful, forgetting what Yahweh through Christ Jesus just did for us yesterday… last week… last month… last year. We think that the problem, issue, or concern is too big for Our Creator to handle. Our spiritual mindset and outlook turns to a fleshly, emotional, panicking mindset and outlook. Our prayer time turns into complaining time. Our prayer time turns into talk to everyone else but God. Our prayer time turns into asking everyone else for help or their opinion. We are literally worrying ourselves to death and making ourselves physically, emotionally, and mentally sick. We are taking ourselves through the pain, headache and heartache. Simply put… WE OF LITTLE FAITH be testing and trying The LORD OUR GOD’s patience.
If Yahweh brought us to it… If He allows us to experience it… He in Jesus name will bring us through it. He wants to get the glory. He wants us to praise and thank Him. He wants us to draw closer to Him. He wants us to have faith in Him. He wants to show Himself strong in our lives. Let’s not forget we serve The God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob. We serve The God who performed miracles for the Israelites, bringing them out of Egypt and through the Red Sea. We serve The God who allowed Job to go through and then restore Him beyond belief. Lord God was handling His business back then and He is still handling His business today. Unlike us… He doesn’t change. We serve a God that is the same yesterday, today, and forever more. Situations, problems, needs, concerns doesn’t bother Him… let’s not let situations, problems, needs, concerns bother us. PRAY To HIM Listen To HIM… NOT HARDEN Our Hearts To HIM… NOT STRAY from HIM.
